I don't know about you - but where I am we are having what I call unseasonably cold temperatures. There is snow on the ground and the wind blows nearly every day. I'm reaching for my winter coats, scarves, sweaters or my afghan on the chair while I curl up with a book or the cat. All the cozy things. The kettle boils merrily several times a day brewing up some cups of comfort in the form of tea, coffee & hot chocolate.

It's also what I call the season of Gratitude. I know there isn't just one time of the year to be grateful - but somehow these weeks between Canadian Thanksgiving and American Thanksgiving seem especially so. I'm supposing it has some to do with all the reminders of thankfulness & gratefulness - and yet I think it's a natural season for it. When the wind howls outside and the temperature plummets - I retreat into my house and I'm so grateful for all the cozy blessings I have.

I will be honest that I have never really been one to dread winter. I actually look forward to it because there is more time for all my creative energies when I no longer need to go weed the garden etc. The morning of the first snow here I marveled at how much brighter everything was - even on a cloudy day - and it reflected inside. So I'm grateful for the brightness of the snow.

Here is the phone wallpaper I've designed for you this month:

And if that just makes you thirsty for your own cup - go right out and join your friends at a coffee shop or be your own barista and brew your magic at home.

And here is the calendar:

Wishing you bright, cozy & grateful days,
Til next time,

I have been in a full on, all out creative mode lately. I've been trying to make time for watercolor painting as well as any work I've been doing for my business. I'm still working on expanding my store on Etsy. (You can find it here: WhiteOrchidPaperie) This involves printing out samples, taking photos & editing photos so they don't look like they were taken in a dungeon! Then the items need to be entered in my store. It's also fall so that includes cleaning up the garden and cleaning windows. And that's just the beginning of the wish list.

Are you tired yet?!

I'm honestly not meaning to complain. I have a point I'm coming to. Which is this: I feel like it shouldn't be this hard or take this long. And it starts to weigh me down.

Like come on - it's supposed to be fun, right?! And I'm doing what I love... but I end up feeling like I've run a marathon... and my list is never shorter.

And I've begun to think I must be doing something wrong. Or there is something wrong with me. I haven't got this all figured out yet. And last night I felt like crying and throwing a fit and throwing in the towel.

And praise God for a good night's sleep. I woke up this morning pondering this all. And a little thought stole in:

What if what I'm experiencing is completely normal?

What if there is nothing wrong with me or how I do things?

What if I just approached this whole project of mine like this was exactly how it is supposed to be.

What if I'm honest on my blog about how I feel?

I will admit I often feel pressure to keep things looking cheerful & glossy here. Gotta keep this up like a store front you know. No one wants to know how much effort goes into my products. It's supposed to look effortless - right?!

Or perhaps not. Maybe you want to know that there is a real person with very real fears behind all this online business.

And so that is why today's brand new product has this quote on it: FIND JOY IN THE ORDINARY.

Everybody with a glossy perfect online presence has an ordinary. And ordinary is seldom glamorous. It's messy, emotional and questioning. But I'm alive and having fun between these moments.

You are still reading at the end here? Then I'm going to whisper a little secret in your ear. You noticed that watercolor sunflower? It's my very own painting. I honestly did it my very own self.

That's not all. I've turned that into greeting cards and printable wall art to be framed. You can find them here: The White Orchid and here  WhiteOrchidPaperie

I'm hoping to get some canvas prints also.

I think I've done enough for the year. It's time I better head in for supper.

Thank-you for being my real life supporters & listeners. You - my readers - are the best.

And I have one more exciting bit of news for you... or perhaps I should say I've been pretty excited about this. I've opened a store on Etsy - WhiteOrchidPaperie

I keep trying to find ways to make things work a little better for me as well as for you. And in an effort to simplify my process - my website has moved to a different hosting platform. I was trying the self-hosting route that so many people recommended, but I found the learning curve a little steep and I was still working on getting it all to run like I wanted and I ended up frustrated because I had so many beautiful ideas I wanted to put together and I was still spending a lot of time building my site. I am hoping to have more time for what I enjoy - creating beautiful stationery & painting.

The good news is that the name remains the same: The White Orchid

There is a contact button on every website if you wish to contact me.

And if you want to know when there are freebies & keep up with new products & what's going on - please subscribe to getting these posts in your email inbox. You can always unsubscribe if you find me in any way annoying.
Thank you,
